Border Patrol Agent Job Description

The U.S. Border Patrol (USBP) is seeking highly trained professionals to join its elite team of law enforcement officers.

• Responsibilities include detecting and questioning individuals suspected of violating immigration and customs laws, inspecting documents and possessions to determine citizenship or violations, preventing and apprehending undocumented noncitizens and smugglers of noncitizens at or near the borders by maintaining surveillance from covert positions using infrared scopes during night operations, interpreting and following tracks marks other physical evidence illegal entry persons contraband.

1. You qualify for the GL-5 grade level if you possess one of the following: general work experience demonstrating ability take charge make sound decisions maintain composure in stressful situations; learn regulations methods techniques classroom training on-the-job instruction; ability gather concise information through questioning observation examination documents records OR education substitution bachelor's degree successful completion full four-year course study any field leading bachelor's degree accredited college university OR combination experience education calculated resume official unofficial transcripts submitted application.
2.
