A Customs and Border Protection Officer's key responsibility is to safeguard America's borders, facilitate the flow of legitimate trade and travel, conduct inspections of individuals and conveyances, determine admissibility for entry into the United States, prevent illegal entry of individuals and prohibited goods.

The officer will be assigned various duty locations throughout the country. Preference locations are expected to have vacancies available in the future; however, if duty locations do not have vacancies at the time of final offer, an alternative geographic location within the United States may be offered based on operational requirements.
