About The Role Summary This role seeks an experienced Data Architect dedicated to designing, implementing, and managing comprehensive data platform solutions utilizing Databricks technologies on the Azure cloud. This position is part of the Customer Experience team, where the enterprise data and analytics function resides. Working closely with IT colleagues, this role will bolster the data and analytics team's initiatives to maximize business value from our data infrastructure during its development and maturation phases. This position may be located in any available bank division across our nine-state footprint.
The entry rate for this position is $117,159.12
per year (calculated for Kalispell, MT). WA Applicants ONLY:
$127,612.84-$191,419.26 per year Description Design, build, and document innovative Databricks & Azure-based technical solutions and data products, using a diverse range of tools, with attention to scalability, availability, reliability, maintainability, usability, agility, and security. Lead project teams, overseeing the technology process and ensuring deliverables meet expectations to build trust and credibility. Implement end-to-end data platform solutions and enhance existing data lakehouse systems, performing hands-on engineering and development as needed. Serve as a technical mentor to junior team members and effectively communicate with a wide array of stakeholders in both business and IT departments. Stay updated on emerging trends and technologies within Databricks and beyond, pursuing continuous growth in architectural skills. Adhere to company policies and legal regulations, including training course completion with a passing score by the deadline. Education Required/Preferred Education Level Description Required Bachelor's Degree A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a similar field with a strong quantitative component. Experience Required/Preferred Experience Level Description Required 7 years 7 years of experience building data solutions on cloud platforms, primarily focusing on Microsoft Azure and Databricks environments. Required 3 years 3 years of experience architecting data solutions on Databricks (any cloud). Required Expert Experience Experience with full life-cycle implementations of data platforms, including the design of data pipelines using Azure Data Factory and Databricks workflows. Required Expert Experience Developing data capabilities using languages such as SQL and Spark. Required Advanced Experience Software or data engineering development using programming languages such as Java, Python, or C/C+. (Python preferred.) Required Advanced Experience Exposure to various Microsoft and other data tools, including Azure SQL Data Warehouse, Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure DevOps, and provisioning and configuring end-to-end Azure data services. Preferred Advanced Experience Experience in the banking or financial services industry is a plus. Would an equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience be considered?:
Yes License/Certification Required/Preferred License/Certification Required Skills and Abilities The ability to influence and motivate senior-level professionals internally and externally is crucial for this role, requiring a high degree of trust. Effective communication, both written and verbal, is indispensable. Exceptional communication skills, capable of engaging with everyone from C-level executives to frontline employees. Ability to create data modernization roadmaps, leveraging deep technical knowledge of Databricks and Microsoft Azure tools to meet complex business and IT requirements. Manage compute/storage resources on Databricks (e.g., cluster definitions). Develop and enhance frameworks for metadata management, alerting and monitoring capabilities, event-driven orchestration, and related data pipeline features. Implement modern data architectures to handle structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data effectively. Familiarity with industry-standard data architectures and schemas, including lakehouse designs, medallion architectures, and Kimball-style star schemas. Ability to design and implement logical and physical data models for cloud data warehouse environments like Databricks Delta Lake. Experience with a range of Microsoft and other data tools, as listed above. Regular and reliable attendance is essential. Capable of interacting calmly and professionally with a diverse array of individuals at various levels within and outside of the organization. Ability to work independently and complete tasks with minimal supervision. Maintain a high level of confidentiality.
