About the Role As an Embedded Software Engineer, you will be instrumental in the design, development, and testing of embedded software, firmware, platforms, and systems for critical technologies. You will join a dedicated team of engineers committed to creating reliable embedded solutions. To excel in this role, a strong background in embedded systems, attention to detail, and a deep understanding of real-time system constraints are essential. This position allows moderate autonomy, requiring effective operational judgment. Key Responsibilities: Design and develop software modules, components, features, or entire embedded software applications. Define system, hardware, software, and human integration requirements. Execute engineering test, validation, and verification activities. Adhere to established software development methodologies, documenting tasks and designs. Validate and verify software designs across various integration environments, from local simulations to full flight tests. Implement protocols and algorithms in resource-constrained environments and collaborate with hardware teams for module communication. Ensure software reliability, resilience, and fail-safe operation while addressing safety and security vulnerabilities. Create detailed design documentation, optimize applications, and implement new features. Participate in task prioritization, execution, code and design reviews, and mentor throughout the software development life cycle. Apply software engineering best practices while understanding business drivers and product roadmaps. Deliver work to meet project scope, cost, and scheduling targets while effectively interfacing with organizational levels and customers. Propose innovative solutions to technical challenges and provide estimates for future projects. Required Qualifications: Current US Security Clearance and US Citizenship. Bachelor's degree with 5 years of relevant software engineering experience or Master's degree with 2 years of experience in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related fields. Proficiency in Ada, C, C++, or similar programming languages. Desired Qualifications: Master's degree in engineering or computer science with extensive experience in embedded software design utilizing Ada, C/C++. Knowledge of scripting languages (Python, Perl, etc.) and code management tools (Git, CVS, etc.). Experience with RTOS and device drivers for complex systems with multi-threading and secure processing. Hands-on experience with embedded software testing and debugging on hardware using various tools. Background in mission-critical industries, transforming CONOPS and specifications into actionable software solutions. Strong problem-solving, critical thinking skills, and proficiency with development tools. Experience in bare metal software design, optimization, and familiarity with compilers and build tools. Familiarity with model-based engineering and system interfaces. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. The base pay range for this position is $90,800.00 - $121,000.00 USD Annual. Specific pay offered may vary based on experience, education, and skills. This position may also be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.
