Job Description

As a Border Patrol Agent, you will be part of our 60,000+ workforce that strives to safeguard our borders, prevent illicit activity, and enhance national economic prosperity.


  • Detecting and questioning people suspected of violating immigration laws or customs regulations.
  • Preventing and apprehending undocumented non-citizens and smugglers at or near the border.
  • Interpreting tracks, marks, and other physical evidence of illegal entry into the country.

Required Skills & Qualifications
The GL-5 grade level requires one year of general work experience demonstrating leadership skills. The GL-7 grade level demands specialized work experience showing proficiency in law enforcement procedures.
The qualifications also include education substitutions for bachelor's degrees with superior academic achievement or graduate-level education related to law enforcement.
