Job Description
We are looking for an experienced WordPress + WooCommerce developer to troubleshoot and improve performance on an established eCommerce website that is currently running slower than expected.
This is not a "install a caching plugin" job. The site is already hosted on SiteGround, and their optimization tools are already in place. We need a developer who can perform a real audit and implement long-term technical improvements through code-level optimization, database tuning, script management, and WooCommerce performance improvements.
We also have a staging environment available for testing and safely deploying improvements before pushing changes live.
Scope of Work (Key Responsibilities)
We need a developer who can handle the following:
Full performance audit and baseline testing (GTmetrix, PageSpeed, Query Monitor, etc.)
Plugin and script load optimization
Reduce Total Blocking Time
Improve frontend script execution
Identify scripts that should load conditionally or be delayed
Database cleanup + automation
Reduce overhead, optimize tables
Automate scheduled cleanup tasks safely
Advanced caching and compression configuration
SiteGround caching, server caching, browser caching
Compression + asset optimization (without breaking WooCommerce checkout)
WooCommerce performance tuning
Cart/checkout speed improvements
Optimize WooCommerce queries and background processes
Bot and traffic management
Identify bot traffic impact
Recommend/implement solutions (Cloudflare, WAF rules, blocking bad crawlers, etc.)
Ongoing monitoring and maintenance
Provide a plan for long-term performance stability
Identify recurring performance bottlenecks

SiteGround Optimizer and caching tools are already enabled
What We Want (Important)
We want someone who can: Diagnose root causes Make long-term improvements (not temporary hacks) Work carefully without breaking checkout functionality Provide clear documentation of changes made Recommend a long-term optimization strategy
Deliverables
Full performance audit report + baseline metrics
List of bottlenecks and recommended fixes
Implemented optimizations (scripts, database, caching, WooCommerce tuning)
Post-optimization performance test results
Ongoing maintenance recommendations
Required Skills
Advanced WordPress development
WooCommerce optimization experience
PHP, MySQL, JS performance tuning
Experience optimizing Flatsome sites (preferred)
Experience working with SiteGround hosting tools (preferred)
Familiarity with caching layers and Cloudflare

Contract duration of 1 to 3 months. with 30 hours per week.
