Job Summary:

The Cook Chill Food Production Center is located on the grounds of the Maplehurst Correctional Facility; however, Cook Chill operates as an independent production facility and is separate from Maplehurst Corrections. There are no inmates on site at any time. Civeo Premium associates do not have any interaction with, nor access to, inmates.

Reporting to the Safety Manager, this role is responsible for developing and presenting comprehensive overviews of positions within the general operations of Civeo's business units. Senior Safety Advisors, equipped with a working knowledge of the essential duties of each role, will ensure that the requirements outlined below accurately reflect the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for successful performance. This three‑month contract follows a 5‑days‑on, 2‑days‑off rotation, with the potential to transition to a remote 15/13 rotation based on operational needs. 

*Note: This is a 3-month term position, with the potential for extension based on operational needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver onboarding and site-specific orientations
  • Facilitate and improve training programs across business units
  • Develop and maintain lesson plans and training materials
  • Identify and coordinate internal and external training opportunities
  • Ensure training records are properly filed in HSE systems
  • Ensure adherence to the safety management system
  • Monitor compliance with life-saving rules and hazard control practices
  • Conduct planned and unplanned inspections
  • Investigate incidents and implement effective controls
  • Support permitting processes and emergency response exercises
  • Participate in toolbox talks, safety meetings, standdowns/standups, and committees
  • Perform audits of safety programs and systems
  • Stay current with relevant regulations and standards
  • Ensure proper function and coordination of the hazard ID program
  • Support safety management and competency advisors as needed
  • Coach and assess employees on codes of practice and SWIs (Safe Work Instructions) 
  • Provide feedback to leadership on training gaps and SWI quality
  • Assist with competency verifications and mentorship initiatives
  • Train staff on advanced HSE systems and hazard ID procedures
  • Respond to safety-related inquiries and concerns from workers
  • Identify unsafe work practices and site hazards
  • Provide cross-unit support through secondment when required
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Competencies:

  • Relevant HSE degree, diploma, certificate, or professional safety designation, such as National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO), and Construction Safety Officer (CSO).
  • Preference will be given to Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP).
  • 5+ years of previous related experience as a health and safety advisor in a unionized environment.
  • Strong knowledge of applicable safety regulations, codes, and best practices.
  • Experience in training delivery, safety inspections, and emergency response.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; able to influence and mentor others.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills; able to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficient in using safety management systems 
  • Experience with SWI development and competency-based training programs.
  • Ability to adapt to change and work collaboratively across departments.
  • Must have a valid Class 5 Driver's License, with a 5-year driving record satisfactory to Civeo's driving criteria
  • Successful completion of vulnerable sector check, criminal record check, and any other required security clearances.
