*Role Overview*
We are searching for a mission-driven, clinically confident Paramedic who is committed to providing exceptional emergency medical care in a rural coastal community. Machias Ambulance Service provides 9-1-1 emergency response and interfacility transport services across Washington County.
This position requires strong clinical judgment, professionalism, and leadership. The Paramedic functions as both a medical provider and on-scene team leader, ensuring high-quality patient care, operational readiness, and adherence to Maine EMS protocols and agency standards.

*What You’ll Do*
· Respond to emergency 9-1-1 calls and interfacility transports.
· Provide advanced life support care in accordance with Maine EMS Prehospital Treatment Protocols and agency SOPs.
· Perform comprehensive patient assessments and advanced interventions including medication administration, advanced airway management, cardiac monitoring, and critical care procedures.
· Serve as team leader during emergency responses and transport.
· Complete accurate and timely electronic patient care reports (ePCRs).
· Communicate professionally with hospitals, dispatch, and partner agencies to ensure continuity of care.
· Participate in QA/QI initiatives, continuing education, and skills maintenance.
· Maintain ambulance readiness, equipment familiarity, and station safety.
· Uphold the Machias Ambulance Service Code of Conduct and represent the Town professionally at all times.

Schedule: Variable shifts based on operational needs
Minimum Qualifications
· Minimum age of 18.
· Valid driver’s license.
· Current Maine EMS Paramedic license in good standing.
· Maine Paramedic Interfacility Transport (PIFT) certification.
· Ambulance Vehicle Operations Course (AVOC) or equivalent.
*Required Certifications*
Must obtain within six (6) months of hire if not already held:
· Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
· Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
· Basic Life Support (BLS)
· Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS)
*Physical and Professional Requirements*
· Ability to perform physically demanding tasks including lifting and moving patients under emergency conditions.
· Ability to make rapid, sound clinical decisions in high-stress environments.
· Ability to safely operate emergency vehicles and equipment.
· Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills.
· Successful completion of a pre-employment psychological evaluation as required for safety-sensitive public safety positions.
