• Detect and question individuals suspected of violating immigration laws by inspecting documents and possessions to determine citizenship or violations
• Prevent and apprehend undocumented noncitizens and smugglers at or near the borders by maintaining surveillance from covert positions using infrared scopes during night operations
• Gather physical evidence such as tracks, marks, or other signs of illegal entry of persons or contraband
