About the Role
The Border Patrol Agent (BPA) plays a critical role in preventing and apprehending undocumented noncitizens, smuggling contraband, and detecting immigration violations. Key Responsibilities
- Detects and questions individuals suspected of violating immigration laws, inspecting documents and possessions to verify citizenship or detect violations;
- Pursues undocumented noncitizens and smugglers at or near the border using surveillance techniques including night operations with infrared scopes;
- Interprets tracks, marks, physical evidence of illegal entry of persons or goods;
