A Customs and Border Protection Officer (CBPO) works to enforce customs, immigration, and agriculture laws and regulations while facilitating legitimate trade and travel. They conduct inspections of individuals and conveyances to determine admissibility for entry into the United States. Additionally, they prevent illegal entry attempts by individuals or prohibited goods as well as smuggling contraband items such as narcotics.
The ideal candidate should possess specialized experience equivalent to at least one grade level below GS-9 which includes detaining suspected violators using law enforcement methods enforcing laws related to importing exporting international shipping conducting interviews gaining information from suspects applying regulations instructions procedures completing training programs including firearms examination cargo physical fitness.
