Customs and Border Protection Officers play a vital role in safeguarding the nation's borders and ensuring national security.
Job Description:
The Customs and Border Protection Officer (CBPO) is responsible for enforcing customs, immigration, and agriculture laws and regulations. This includes inspecting individuals and conveyances, determining admissibility of individuals for entry into the United States, preventing illegal entry of prohibited goods, contraband, narcotics, or other threats to national security.
Key Responsibilities:
- Detain suspected violators of federal laws using proper law enforcement methods.
- Enforce customs regulations relating to importing/exporting merchandise from/to US ports.
- Conduct interviews in a law enforcement capacity to gather information on potential security threats.
Duty Locations:
The CBPO may be assigned to one of many duty locations throughout the country. Incentives are offered at some locations.
