Border Security Specialist

The Border Patrol Agent role offers a long-term career in federal law enforcement, making a difference every day for country citizens.

• Detect and question individuals suspected of violating immigration and customs laws, inspecting documents and possessions to determine citizenship violations.

• Prevent the apprehension of undocumented non-citizens, smugglers, and determine their immigration status while tracking evidence.

Fully trained agents may be eligible for promotion to the next higher grade level without reapplying after completing each week-long training program. Duty assignments are available at various locations throughout the Southwest Border region, with prioritized locations offered first. RELOCATION MAY BE REQUIRED as duty location impacts pay rates due to locality pay under federal law enforcement regulations. This job ladder position involves progression through grades, where graduates can experience variety in challenging but rewarding internal issues.
