Border Patrol Agent Job Overview

The U.S. Border Patrol (USBP) is hiring for entry-level positions as Law Enforcement Officers to protect the American people by safeguarding our borders, deterring illicit activity, and enhancing the nation's economic prosperity.

• Protect national interests by inspecting documents and possessions of individuals suspected of violating immigration laws.


• Prevent and apprehend undocumented noncitizens at or near the borders through covert surveillance operations.


• Interpret tracks, marks, and other physical evidence of illegal entry of persons or contraband.


• Patrol international boundaries using various government assets such as vehicles, horses, vessels, watercraft etc.
