Help Shape the Future of Cochrane's Development
The Civil Land Development Technologist II plays a key role in reviewing and approving new subdivisions and development across Cochrane. You'll evaluate engineering submissions for Subdivision applications and Development Permits, oversee the CCC and FAC processes, and work closely with internal teams, developers, consultants, and contractors to ensure projects meet municipal standards. This role also provides technical guidance, supports planning and policy work, assists with development‑related agreements, and contributes to capital project delivery where needed.
Your ImpactYou'll apply Town of Cochrane and City of Calgary engineering standards to ensure subdivision and development projects meet high‑quality design and construction expectations. You'll guide residents, developers, and stakeholders through development processes, conduct site inspections, review submissions, and oversee CCC/FAC administration. Your work helps maintain accurate infrastructure records and directly supports the delivery of reliable municipal infrastructure.

Key Accountabilities
• Review engineering submissions for subdivisions, Development Permits, and capital projects
• Administer and coordinate the CCC and FAC processes
• Communicate with internal teams, developers, contractors, and the public to ensure compliance with municipal standards
• Provide technical input on ASPs, Neighbourhood Plans, and other planning documents
• Support GIS and Information Systems with accurate municipal infrastructure mapping
• Assist in drafting and enforcing Subdivision Servicing Agreements and Development Agreements
• Coordinate tender documents, RFPs, and RFQs as required
• Review construction contracts to ensure Town requirements and special conditions are met
• Provide technical guidance to colleagues and support capital project coordination
Qualifications & Requirements
• Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology
• 3–5 years of municipal or related industry experience
• Knowledge of municipal infrastructure, engineering design standards, and construction practices
• Experience with drafting, modelling, and GIS software is an asset 
• Strong computer, communication, and presentation skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively
• Experience in project management and coordination
• Strong attention to detail and understanding of development approval timelines
• Demonstrated negotiation and problem‑solving skills
• Member of ASET or eligible; project management certification is an asset
