About the Role:
This contractor position provides intermediate to senior‑level pipeline systems engineering support for Enbridge's liquids pipelines and facility assets. The role focuses on operational troubleshooting, system optimization, technical assurance, and the development and review of engineering deliverables for both sustaining and growth projects. The successful candidate will bridge day‑to‑day operational needs with long‑term engineering solutions that ensure safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in the development of technical scopes for pipeline and facility projects, including pump stations, storage terminals, valve manifolds, booster pumps, metering systems, and tanks.
- Complete and/or review feasibility studies, conceptual designs, process studies, and detailed engineering deliverables to ensure adherence to Enbridge standards, quality processes, and industry regulations.
- Review and provide technical direction on PFDs, P&IDs, control philosophies, operating limits, and other engineering documents.
- Conduct technical reviews at stage‑gates throughout the project lifecycle, with an emphasis on process engineering rigor.
- Collect, interpret, and analyze operational data to support technical assessments and recommendations.
- Apply hydraulic modeling tools to evaluate pipeline system performance, identify design or maintenance issues, and issue formal technical recommendations.
- Maintain and enhance proficiency in both in‑house and industry‑recognized process engineering tools.
- Provide contact engineering support for day‑to‑day operations by troubleshooting process issues and identifying optimization opportunities.
- Lead and support Management of Change (MOC) activities for operational improvements.
- Participate in or lead Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) reviews as required.
- Ensure engineering recommendations and designs support safe operations and meet applicable codes and regulations.
- Liaise with multidisciplinary teams across Engineering, Operations, Integrity, Planning, and external partners to support corporate engineering initiatives.
- Communicate technical information clearly and effectively to stakeholders at various levels of the organization.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
- Minimum 7 years of progressively complex experience in process and hydraulics engineering within the oil & gas industry.
- Demonstrated intermediate to senior‑level technical competence in process design, pipeline hydraulics, and systems engineering.
- Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in the Province of Alberta.
- Working knowledge of liquids pipeline and facility operations.
- Strong ability to analyze operational data and translate findings into actionable engineering recommendations.
- In‑depth knowledge of relevant industry codes, regulations, and standards.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong problem‑solving, decision‑making, organizational, and planning capabilities.
- Ability to work effectively with peers, internal stakeholders, vendors, and service providers.
Preferred:
- Experience in process safety methodologies (PHA, HAZOP, LOPA) is an advantage.
Working Conditions:
- Office‑based role.
- Occasional travel (~5%) to other Enbridge offices, field locations, or operational sites.
- Valid passport required.
