Position Summary
The Clinical Operations Supervisor works collaboratively with charge nurses, physicians, and allied health professionals in the coordination of efficient and timely patient flow, access and bed utilization, 7 days a week, across all Quinte Health (QH) sites and models and inspires the QH corporate values.
Required
• Valid registration and in good standing from College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Nurse OR a University Degree in Social Work, Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy
• Completed Baccalaureate Degree or actively pursuing
• Minimum of 5 years' progressive and recent Clinical Nursing experience in a health care setting and a demonstrated high degree of clinical nursing competence with the ability to make appropriate professional judgments,
• Proven leadership and decision making abilities, effective communication, and facilitation skills,
• Possesses excellent interpersonal, conflict resolution and negotiation skills in working with families and patients, staff, physicians, department heads and administration as required,
• The ability to work collaboratively within the Patient Care Service Delivery model promoting and facilitating the continuum of care delivery both internally and with external care providers and agencies,
• Evidence of effective communication and conflict resolution skills with the ability to develop positive working relationships with all stakeholders promoting collective problem solving approaches,
• Demonstrated good leadership skills including the demonstrated ability to role model and mentor,
• Comprehensive knowledge of other health care disciplines and their role in patient care and patient flow,
• Demonstrated commitment to interprofessional practice standards,
• Excellent interpersonal skills with a strong orientation to staff development and staff empowerment,
• Demonstrated ability to teach, demonstrate, facilitate and coach, and
• Demonstrated computer skills including ability to effectively use computerized client care information system.
Preferred
• Critical care or emergency experience
Duties
• Aligned with the IPCT model, the Clinical Operations Supervisor will identify operational barriers to discharge across services and programs, identify clinical utilization opportunities through appropriate delivery of patient care, and support the development and implementation of process improvements through an inter-professional practice model,
• With the support of the Program Managers, the will collaborate with Patient Care Leads/Charge Nurses to facilitate patient flow, assess decisions, and will negotiate, as necessary, when compromise and agreement cannot be reached,
• A highly visible position, the Clinical Operations Supervisor will round in person on all units wherever possible assisting with and facilitating patient movement across the corporation to the most appropriate care environment,
• The Clinical Operations Supervisor will act as a lead resource in resolving issues/problems regarding patient care staffing levels and bed utilization,
• Other duties as assigned.
