Drum Operator

The Drum Operator plays an essential role in the chip plant by ensuring safe and efficient operation of the Drum Debarker. What You'll Do

• Safely operate the Drum Debarker to produce high‑quality chips for downstream operations.
• Monitor drum performance, identify abnormalities, and report issues promptly to supervision.
• Complete daily equipment inspections and support basic troubleshooting activities.
• Follow all safety procedures including lockout, hazard reporting, and inspection routines.
• Maintain clean, organized work areas to support safe and efficient production.
• Coordinate with operators, maintenance teams, and supervisors to maintain steady production flow.
• Participate in cross‑training to support operational flexibility across the chip plant.
• Respond quickly and safely to equipment or production upsets as directed.

What We're Looking For

• High school diploma required; technical or mechanical training considered an asset.
• 1–3 years of experience operating industrial or stationary machinery (e.g., debarkers, chippers, conveyors).
• Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to recognize equipment irregularities.
• Ability to work 12‑hour rotating shifts (WOOWOO schedule).
• Excellent communication skills and a strong commitment to safety and teamwork.
• Reliability, attention to detail, and willingness to learn new skills.
