You'll work hands‑on across field and laboratory environments, helping deliver safe, resilient, and sustainable materials solutions that support the future of our communities.Your Impact In this role, you will shape project outcomes by:
- Conducting high‑quality field and laboratory testing on asphalt, concrete, aggregates, and soils to support safe and durable infrastructure.
- Delivering materials inspections and construction monitoring on earthworks, foundations, transportation corridors, and structural components.
- Completing field compaction and concrete testing to inform real‑time construction decisions.
- Producing clear, accurate data entries and inspection reports that influence project direction and quality.
- Performing geotechnical laboratory testing, including sieve analyses, Proctors, moisture contents, cylinder breaks, CSA calibrations, and asphalt testing.
- Maintaining an organized, efficient laboratory environment to ensure compliance and readiness for all testing programs.
- Upholding WSP's Project Review, Ethics, and Safety policies, with a commitment to safe work in varied field conditions.
- You bring 10+ years of hands‑on Canadian experience as a materials technician, with strong field and lab proficiency across a variety of construction environments.
- You're comfortable working on remote or out‑of‑town projects and thrive in field settings that require independence, adaptability, and sound judgment.
- You meet all safety expectations, including the use of CSA safety boots and the ability to perform light‑to‑moderate lifting.
- You hold a valid Alberta driver's license and can provide an acceptable driver's abstract.
- You prioritize accuracy, safety, and organization—whether monitoring compaction, preparing samples, or producing reports.
- You bring a proactive mindset and willingness to take on varied tasks while staying focused on project priorities.

- AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $77,400 – $102,500
- MB & ON: $70,600 – $97,200
- NB, NL, NS, PEI & QC: $69,900 – $92,900
The final salary awarded for this role may vary from the above range based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
