Join Interpro Pipe & Steel's Calgary team as a Safety Manager, where you will play a pivotal role in cultivating a robust safety culture that safeguards our workforce and enhances operational efficiency. In this critical position, you will lead initiatives to develop and implement comprehensive safety programs, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and company standards
Assist with writing standards, training requirements, monitoring/auditing elements and corrective action steps as outlined in the safety management system
Represent the Company in loss prevention and claims management activities with workers compensation boards and general liability insurance carriers
Assist with Industrial Hygiene related programs and upgrade with continuous improvement as the objective.
Maintain effective standardized tools to monitor the success of safety management systems and identify opportunities for improvement
Provide leadership and guidance to operations in the performance of safety management requirements including incident investigation, safety training and communications, inspection and auditing, hazard assessment, and implementation of site business safety plans
Manage compliance with the Contractor Safety Policy
Provide direction and support to the facility joint union and management safety committee
Plan and coordinate safety training, including new hire orientation
Maintain records and documentation required by national or provincial regulations
Evaluate, specify and audit the proper application of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Conduct and supervise incident investigations
Track completion of corrective actions identified through audits or investigations
Directly interact with the Plant Operations Managers and Senior Management staff members in the determination of loss prevention objectives and the development of objective attainment plans
Requirements
B.S. in Safety, Environmental Sciences, Engineering, Human Resource Management or related field preferred
Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation an asset
Minimum of 5 years' experience managing a comprehensive safety program, preference given to candidates with experience in industrial manufacturing and/or steel making
Experiences in Workers Compensation Claims Management
Computer literacy, particularly with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel
Strong written and oral communication skills
Strong interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to affect positive behavior in others
Experience in safety management systems and risk assessment, preferred
