About Us
Suger helps B2B software companies sell through cloud marketplaces like AWS, Azure, GCP, Oracle, Alibaba, and Snowflake - now one of the fastest-growing enterprise sales channels.
Marketplace sales are operationally complex: pricing, contracting, billing, revenue recognition, and compliance all intersect across multiple cloud providers. Suger removes this complexity with an API-first revenue platform that powers quote-to-cash and marketplace workflows at scale.
Launched in 2022, Suger works with over 250 B2B customers, from large enterprises like Snowflake and Intel to fast-growing startups like Glean and Vanta. We're a Series A company backed by Threshold VC, Craft Ventures, Intel Capital, and Y Combinator.
We're expanding Suger's platform with AI-powered agents and infrastructure that automate and optimize complex enterprise workflows across pricing, contracting, billing, and compliance.
These systems sit at the core of customer revenue operations, where correctness, reliability, and scale matter deeply. This is not experimental AI at the edges - it's production infrastructure that must be explainable, resilient, and trusted.
We're hiring a Staff Software Engineer to lead the design and evolution of the systems that power both Suger's core platform and our AI-driven products. In this role, you'll operate with broad technical ownership across teams. You'll shape architecture, drive long-term technical direction, and solve ambiguous, high-impact problems at the intersection of distributed systems, data integrity, and AI-assisted automation.
This role is ideal for a Staff Software Engineer who:
• Enjoys owning large, ambiguous problem spaces with platform-level impact
• Is excited by designing and evolving complex distributed systems at scale
• Wants to shape how AI is embedded into core infrastructure and systems
• Is comfortable setting technical direction and influencing architecture across teams
• Cares deeply about correctness, reliability, and long-term maintainability
We work in a hybrid model with 4 days per week in our Downtown Vancouver office.
In this role, you'll:- Lead architecture and technical direction for core platform infrastructure and AI-powered customer-facing products, ensuring scalability, reliability, and long-term maintainability.
- Design and evolve AI agent infrastructure, including orchestration, observability, safety, and integration with existing enterprise systems.
- Own and deliver complex, cross-functional initiatives end-to-end, from problem definition and system design through implementation, deployment, and iteration.
- Act as a technical multiplier, setting engineering standards, mentoring engineers, and raising the overall quality, velocity, and technical judgment of the team.
- Partner closely with Product, Design, and Customer-facing teams to translate business and customer needs into robust AI-assisted and automation-driven solutions, including direct customer collaboration when needed.
- Drive platform excellence at scale, improving system performance, reliability, CI/CD pipelines, cloud infrastructure, and AI system robustness.
- Establish best practices for AI production readiness, including data quality, evaluation, monitoring, and failure handling in real-world enterprise environments.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- 6+ years of hands-on experience building and operating production systems in at least one of: Python, Go, TypeScript, Java, or C++.
- Strong fundamentals in distributed systems, REST APIs, SQL, and system design.
- Proven architectural leadership, including designing scalable platforms, making sound technical tradeoffs, and balancing near-term delivery with long-term platform health.
- Experience designing or operating AI-enabled systems (e.g., AI agents, LLM-backed services, ML-powered workflows, or automation platforms), or strong interest in doing so.
- Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and building reliable services on top of them.
- Experience with Terraform, GitHub CI/CD, Docker, and Kubernetes is a strong bonus.
- Ownership mindset and strong communication skills - comfortable operating in ambiguity, collaborating cross-functionally, and clearly explaining complex technical decisions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Base Salary Range: $150,000 - $200,000 CAD/year.
- Competitive compensation and equity plan.
- Monthly office stipends for lunch and commute-related benefits.
- Full healthcare benefits - extended health care, dental, vision, and life insurance.
- Work alongside a top-notch team with experience at Google, Meta, Salesforce, Pave, Motive, and Square - building AI agent and AI infrastructure SaaS that powers revenue workflows.
- Own a major pillar of our go-to-market strategy from day one - driving architecture, engineering standards, and platform reliability with the autonomy to build what you think is right.
- Fast-moving, flat org with real product-market fit and big ambitions where you'll ship quickly, influence the roadmap, and see direct customer impact.
