Are you passionate about creating safe, nurturing, and inspiring environments for children to learn and grow? At the YMCA of Northeastern Ontario, we're looking for an enthusiastic Assistant Supervisor, Day Camp who brings heart, creativity, and professionalism to their work every day. As a Assistant Supervisor, Day Camp, you'll be a key part of a dynamic team that supports children's development through play-based learning, meaningful relationships, and a commitment to health and safety. This Summer position within the Association is located in the City of Timmins.
START DATE: May 4,2026
LOCATION: Timmins, ON
RATE OF PAY: 19.70 per hour
*This position includes the Ministry of Education Wage Enhancement Grant (WEG) of up to an additional $2.00/hour for qualifying roles within a licensed child care program at the YMCA
HOURS: 40 hours per week
What You'll Bring to the Role
- Possession of an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD)
- Minimum of one (1) year of leadership experience in a similar role
- Experience working with children and/or youth
- Current Standard First Aid with Infant and Child CPR (Level C) *Recognized by the WSIB
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Current and satisfactory Police Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening (dated within the last 6 months)
What You'll Be Doing
Programming- Participate in program delivery schedule
- Coordinate and schedule activities, programs and special events
- Respond to inquiries regarding programs promptly
- Be a positive role model for all program participants
- Manage the summer program supplies, request additional items and ensure all supplies/equipment is stored properly
- Create and implement a quality program that encourages physical activity
Administrative Duties
- Communicate with program participant guardians and staff
- Assist with scheduling staff and volunteers
- Complete incident reports for submission to the management
- Ensure all relevant paperwork is completed in a timely manner
- Ensure cleaning for day camp spaces
People & Culture
- Assist in providing support to staff and volunteers
- Ensure that all Association safety standards are met or exceeded
- Support the team with other duties
- Adhere to the YMCA policies and procedures, including Hiring Process Guidelines, Ontario Camps Standards and YMCA Day Camping Quality Assessment Tools
Relationship Building
- Build relationships with members and guests, and promote the YMCA as a charitable organization
- Other duties as assigned by the Association
