The Intermediate Accountant 

acts as a key liaison between the Purchasing, Operations, Shared Services, and Finance departments. He or she ensures the proper processing of vendor invoices as well as customer billing, while maintaining the accuracy, compliance, and smooth flow of financial information.

The incumbent is also actively involved in the month-end close process, collections, and contributes to the preparation of financial statements. The role includes participation in continuous process improvement initiatives, ERP implementation, and the deployment of financial tools in a constantly evolving environment.

This position includes transactional, financial, and administrative responsibilities. It is not a management or supervisory role, but rather a key position requiring strong problem-solving skills, cross-functional communication abilities, and solid financial analysis skills.

What your days will look like as an Intermediate Accountant:

  • Ensure the processing, validation, and follow-up of vendor invoices and customer invoices in collaboration with the Purchasing, Operations, and Transactional Shared Services departments;
  • Participate in customer collections in collaboration with other team members;
  • Act as a resource person for the Finance department regarding shared services;
  • Participate in the month-end close process: accruals, journal entries, reconciliations, analyses, and monthly follow-ups;
  • Perform various financial analyses and monitor variances;
  • Collaborate in the implementation and optimization of a new ERP system;
  • Ensure the quality, accuracy, and integrity of financial information;
  • Maintain clear and effective communication between departments;
  • Support continuous improvement of accounting and administrative processes;
  • Perform any other related tasks or occasional replacements within the team, as required.

To succeed as an Intermediate Accountant, you must have:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities;
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a high level of accuracy;
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills;
  • Ability to work independently while promoting teamwork;
  • Proficiency in accounting software and the Microsoft Office suite, with advanced Excel skills;
  • Adaptability and ease in a changing environment;
  • Active participation in system implementation projects (ERP).

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field with 3 to 5 years of experience in an accounting role; or
  • Accounting technician diploma with 10 to 15 years of experience in a coordination and/or management role;
  • Experience within a medium or large organization using shared services (strong asset);
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles, regulations, and the full accounting cycle;
  • Knowledge of IFS, NetSuite, and Power BI (strong asset);
  • Ability to manage multiple files simultaneously and meet deadlines;
  • Strong sense of responsibility and confidentiality;
  • French and English: oral and written, highly functional level.
