Assist in building and maintaining RAG pipelines, focusing on retrieval orchestration, hybrid search, chunking & embeddings, and integration with logs/events/metrics.
Contribute to agentic and multi-agent workflows using frameworks such as LangChain or LangGraph, while collaborating with MCP tools, internal APIs, and external systems.
Create and enhance developer-facing SDKs, templates, and reference applications (primarily in Python/TypeScript) to streamline tool, chain, and agent composition for other teams.
Work with LangSmith or similar evaluation stacks to instrument prompts, capture traces, and conduct evaluations with guidance from senior engineers and scientists.
Partner with product managers and UX professionals to transform user stories into GenAI experiences, refine them based on feedback, and deliver impactful features that advance customer and business success metrics.
Promote responsible AI practices in daily work, ensuring grounding, guardrails, access controls, and human-in-the-loop workflows are integral to our processes.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
5+ years of experience in building and operating backend or distributed systems in production, or 2+ years with a Master's degree.
Proficiency in one or more modern programming languages (e.g., Python, TypeScript/JavaScript, Go, or Java), with strong software design and debugging capabilities.
Some experience with LLM APIs and ecosystems (e.g., OpenAI, Claude, Bedrock, or open-source models like Llama) and relevant production features.
Familiarity with web APIs and microservices (REST/gRPC), including testing, deployment, and basic observability aspects (logs/metrics).
Proven ability to take features from concept to completion: collaborating on design, implementation, testing, deployment, and iteration based on metrics or feedback.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience or a strong interest in RAG systems and vector databases (such as Weaviate, Qdrant, Milvus, FAISS, etc.).
Exposure to agentic frameworks (LangChain, LangGraph, LlamaIndex, Semantic Kernel, or similar) and orchestration patterns.
Familiarity with LangSmith or similar evaluation platforms, or experience in instrumenting prompts/pipelines for quality and debugging.
Background in contributing to platform or developer experience capabilities: internal libraries, SDKs, templates, or shared components for engineering teams.
Experience with full-stack development for GenAI interfaces (React/TypeScript), especially in prompt UX or conversation flows, is advantageous.
Understanding of basic AI safety and governance concepts (guardrails, data privacy, RBAC) and their application in an enterprise context.
Strong communication skills and a growth mindset, willing to ask questions, give/receive feedback, and learn from more experienced colleagues.

Message to applicants: The starting salary range for this role is $181,000.00 to $235,000.00, reflecting projected compensation for new hires in this position, excluding additional incentives, equity, or benefits. Employees are eligible for a range of paid time off, including: 10 paid holidays per calendar year, plus 1 floating holiday for non-exempt employees.
1 paid day off for the employee's birthday, a paid year-end holiday shutdown, and 4 wellness days determined by Cisco.
Non-exempt employees receive 16 days of paid vacation per calendar year, accrued at a rate of 4.92 hours per pay period for full-time employees.
Exempt employees participate in a flexible vacation program with no defined limits on usage, subject to availability and business needs.
80 hours of sick time off granted upon hire and each January 1st thereafter, with the ability to carry over up to 80 hours of unused sick time annually.
Additional paid time off may be requested for family emergencies.
Optional 10 days of paid volunteer time each year.
For non-sales roles, employees are eligible for annual bonuses based on Cisco policies.
