Job Title: Subject Matter Expert (SME) - Mid Level
Location: Washington, DC (20% on-site, approximately 1 day per week)
Client: Federal Government Client

Role Overview
We are seeking a Mid-Level Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support a federal client in securing containerized environments, orchestration platforms, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud infrastructure. The SME will design, implement, and maintain security practices and tools across the DevOps lifecycle, ensuring secure continuous integration and deployment processes. The role requires close collaboration with development, operations, and cybersecurity teams to maintain compliance with federal security standards and strengthen platform resilience.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and manage container and cloud security architectures.
- Secure containerized applications and orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes or OpenShift.
- Implement security controls across CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps workflows.
- Harden container images and manage image vulnerability scanning and remediation.
- Develop and maintain automated security checks in build and deployment pipelines.
- Support secure deployment and monitoring of microservices and container workloads.
- Implement runtime security controls and policy enforcement in Kubernetes environments.
- Conduct vulnerability assessments and remediation activities across DevOps environments.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 6 years of professional experience in DevOps, cloud, or platform engineering.
- At least 2 years of leadership or technical lead experience.
Strong hands-on experience with:
- Docker containers and container security
- Kubernetes or other container orchestration platforms
- Securing CI/CD pipelines
- Experience implementing DevSecOps practices across development pipelines.
- Knowledge of container image scanning and runtime security tools. xawqmyg
- Experience working in cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
Required Technical Skills
- Docker container management and hardening
- Kubernetes security and cluster management
- Container vulnerability scanning and remediation
- CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, GitHub Actions, or similar
- Infrastructure-as-Code tools (Terraform, Ansible, or equivalent)
- Secrets management and secure configuration practices
- Linux system administration and scripting (Bash, Python, or similar)
Job Types: Full-time, Contract, Temporary
Pay: $133,333.00 - $145,000.00 per year
