In Target Data Sciences, you will have the opportunity to develop and manage cutting-edge predictive algorithms that harness data to optimize decisions at a large scale. Team Overview: The Stores and Properties Data Science team engages in various initiatives such as payroll forecasting, optimizing store fulfillment planning, and providing sustainable solutions. Become part of a collaborative group committed to creating innovative solutions tailored for our stores and properties partners. Position Overview: As a Senior Data Scientist, you will partner with Product, Tech, and business teams to tackle retail challenges on a grand scale. Your main responsibilities will revolve around designing, developing, deploying, and maintaining impactful data science models and tools. Work closely with data scientists and analysts to adapt to the changing business landscape, and join forces with engineers to deliver effective store solutions. Compile an in-depth understanding of Target's operational processes to enhance store efficiencies. Analyze significant datasets to extract actionable insights for driving business improvements. Develop and implement forecasting and mathematical models that provide real-world applications and measurable outcomes. Collaborate with the team to build and maintain sophisticated software systems and tools. Lead the analysis and resolution of model-related issues, collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve business objectives. Provide financial insights to both business partners and leadership teams. Improve analytics and reporting processes through automation for enhanced efficiency. Deliver key insights to aid decision-making across the organization. About You: MS/PhD in Mathematics, Statistics, Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or equivalent experience. 3+ years of professional experience using machine learning within retail or related fields. Proficient in Python, R, SQL, or Scala, with a dedication to continuous learning and adhering to best practices. Strong analytical thinking and data visualization skills, coupled with a talent for creatively solving business challenges. Experience managing large datasets, especially in data cleaning, transformation, and generating insights for business enhancement. Background in collaboratively developing and maintaining extensive codebases while following industry standards. Comprehensive knowledge of mathematical and statistical concepts, forecasting, and data analysis applied to real-world business problems. Experience deploying machine learning solutions that drive significant business impact. Self-motivated with a results-oriented mindset and the ability to meet tight deadlines. A collaborative team player with the ability to communicate effectively across various time zones. Experience in forecasting is a plus. This position operates in a Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work setup at the Target HQ in Minnesota. Duties may require both onsite and virtual work depending on team needs.
