The Team and Role: Become a part of our dynamic video collaboration (VC) team, where we are dedicated to creating products that enhance every aspect of video communication in modern meeting spaces, from cozy huddle rooms to expansive global conference setups. Our team consists of passionate engineers, designers, and innovators committed to making video communication seamless, intuitive, and enjoyable. We thrive in a fast-paced environment, tackling complex system-level challenges, and take pride in delivering beautiful, reliable products that keep the world connected. This is your chance to harness your enthusiasm for low-level Android frameworks and system optimization to shape the future of Logitech. We are seeking a lead software engineer to customize and optimize the core Android open source project (AOSP) for robust, high-performance video collaboration devices. In this position, you will serve as the technical authority for the Android OS layer, ensuring system stability and enabling key device features. Your role will also involve integrating strategic requirements from our application partners, including Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and Google Meet. As part of this collaborative effort, you will work closely with our hardware, firmware, and QA teams, while reporting directly to the engineering manager for the video collaboration platform. Your Contribution: Be yourself. Be open, hungry, and humble. Collaborate, challenge, decide, and take action. Share our passion for equality and the environment. These are the values that guide success at Logitech. In this role, you will: Act as the technical lead for translating strategic requirements from key video application partners into the core Android system architecture. Analyze, design, and implement tailored solutions within the Android framework to ensure seamless, high-performance integration of partner applications on our devices. Architect and customize the Android open source project (AOSP) to develop a tailored operating system foundation for our video collaboration device portfolio. Conduct root cause analysis and expertly troubleshoot complex system-level issues throughout the Android stack, from application layers to native services and hardware interfaces. Design, develop, and integrate custom Android framework components, services, and APIs to extend and enhance core device functionality. Create and maintain robust Android system services that support key platform features, with a strong understanding of application-layer components such as Jetpack libraries. Collaborate with hardware, firmware, and quality assurance (QA) teams to ensure seamless end-to-end product integration and superior performance. Key Qualifications: To be considered, you must bring the following skills and experiences to our team: 7+ years of proven, hands-on experience in Android framework development with deep customization within AOSP. Expert-level proficiency in Kotlin (with advanced skills in coroutines and flows for concurrent programming), Java, C, and C++, along with the capability to navigate and optimize complex system-level codebases. A comprehensive understanding of core Android concepts and system services, including CameraManager, DisplayManager, DownloadManager, ActivityManager, and the intricacies of the Android application lifecycle. A passion for technology and a strong foundation in computer science that empowers you to perform debugging, root cause analysis, and performance tuning for embedded Android systems. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with Chromium WebRTC audio/video APIs is highly beneficial. You should be comfortable writing JavaScript and HTML code to access Web APIs and ensure flawless functionality of web-based meeting features within the custom Chromium WebView environment. Across Logitech, we foster collaboration and creativity. We're committed to empowering teams to work and learn from anywhere without sacrificing productivity or continuity. Our hybrid work model allows for both remote and on-site work, creating a flexible environment. Our teams are diverse and inclusive, and we celebrate all differences. Don’t meet every single requirement? That’s okay! If you believe you are the right fit for this opportunity, we encourage you to apply. We want to meet you!
