CID/IDS is a medical specialty group of individuals that assist with patient care in skilled nursing facilities. Our staff consists of nurse practitioners, medical assistants, and medical scribes in addition to offering optometry services in the north Chicago area
*Position Summary*
We are seeking a *motivated and self-directed Optometrist* to provide comprehensive eye care services to residents in skilled nursing and rehabilitation facilities. This role offers a unique opportunity to practice independently in a supportive, collaborative healthcare environment serving a diverse patient population. The ideal candidate will have strong clinical skills, a proactive approach to patient care, and an entrepreneurial mindset to help expand and promote eye care services within partner facilities.
*Key Responsibilities*
* Conduct comprehensive eye exams for residents within skilled nursing and rehabilitation settings.
* Diagnose and manage ocular diseases, refractive errors, and other vision concerns.
* Prescribe corrective lenses, vision aids, and treatment plans as clinically indicated.
* Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with facility and compliance standards.
* Collaborate with facility physicians, nurses, and other allied health professionals to support continuity of care.
* Utilize and maintain portable optometry equipment for on-site services.
* Promote eye care awareness among residents and facility staff through education and outreach.
* Assist with billing and documentation processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with payer requirements.
* Demonstrate professional independence, reliability, and strong time management when rounding across multiple facilities.
*Qualifications*
* Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited institution.
* Active and unrestricted state optometry license.
* Experience working in long-term care, skilled nursing, or similar healthcare environments preferred.
* Familiarity with insurance billing, coding, and documentation processes.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a patient-centered focus.
* Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to develop and grow services within new settings.
* Reliable transportation and willingness to travel between facility locations on the north Chicago area.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: From $63.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30 – 32 per week
