IT Systems Administrator, Educational Technology Analyst

Job Description Summary This position is available within the University of Maryland's Division of Information Technology (DIT).
As part of the Learning Technology Strategy team within the Academic Technology and Innovation group, the analyst will be responding to instructor and student inquiries, configuring and managing educational technologies, integrations, and custom applications, engaging with the campus community, and participating in projects that improve educational technologies provided to the campus.
Key Responsibilities: Support and Operations - Responding to instructor and student questions or requests - Performing operations and maintenance tasks for SaaS, PaaS, and locally hosted solutions. - Monitoring systems and services, responding to alerts and performing root cause analysis - Creating reports, interacting with services, and customizing tools using scripts and web APIs.
Configuration and Testing - Reviewing product release notes and testing functionality - Making recommendations related to service changes - Configuring service features, documenting changes, testing technical and non-technical solutions. - Ensuring that tools and services adhere to campus requirements related to accessibility, security, and privacy.
Community Engagement and Research - Creating digital content and materials related to services (KB articles, how-to videos, etc.) - Planning and participating in workshops and consultations for instructors and students - Staying up-to-date on and providing reports related to requested and newly available technologies that impact teaching and learning.
Integration and Application Development - Modifying/Customizing tools and integrations using scripts and or web APIs. - Documenting educational technologies, integrations, and application architectures - Writing, reviewing, or assisting with writing and testing custom applications and integrations related to educational technology.
**This position is considered essential and may be required to work at the normal work location or an alternative location during a major catastrophic event, weather emergency, or other operational emergency to help maintain the continuity of University services.**
Physical Demands: Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Repetitive motion. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.

Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience: Three (3) years of professional information technology system administration experience.
Other: Additional work experience as defined above may be substituted on a year for year basis for up to four (4) years of the required education.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
Knowledge of hardware and software resources. Knowledge of best practices to ensure the highest level of customer service. Skill in oral and written communication.
Skill in the use of office productivity software such as Office 365 or Google Workspaces.
Ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, regulations, and laws. Ability to multitask while demonstrating a commitment to customer service.
Additional Job Details
Please note that all positions within the Division of Information Technology (DIT) have an in person component with expected time in our College Park, MD location per week. Telework is not a guaranteed work arrangement.

Experience in higher education, public sector, or similarly complex organizations. Experience configuring and managing SaaS products in large organizations. Experience in change management, training end-users, and driving adoption. Experience writing and using scripts for automation, reporting and application customization.
