We are seeking an analytical and detail-oriented Inventory Control Specialist to join our logistics team in Chicago, Illinois. In this critical role, you will be responsible for maintaining the accuracy and integrity of our warehouse inventory. Your duties will include conducting cycle counts, investigating discrepancies, implementing inventory control procedures, and managing stock rotation. You will work closely with warehouse associates, supervisors, and management to ensure that our inventory data is precise and reflects the physical stock. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of inventory management systems, exceptional analytical skills, and a commitment to accuracy and efficiency in a fast-paced logistics environment. Responsibilities:
- Perform regular cycle counts and physical inventory audits to ensure accuracy.
- Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies by researching transaction history and conducting physical checks.
- Implement and maintain established inventory control procedures and best practices.
- Monitor inventory levels and identify potential shortages or overages.
- Manage stock rotation (FIFO/LIFO) to minimize obsolescence and ensure product freshness.
- Analyze inventory data to identify trends and recommend improvements.
- Ensure proper labeling and organization of all inventory within the warehouse.
- Work with the receiving and shipping departments to ensure accurate recording of inbound and outbound goods.
- Operate warehouse equipment as needed and assist with general warehouse duties.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and wear appropriate PPE, ensuring a secure work environment.
- Participate in training for new systems and processes impacting inventory logistics.
- This role may involve occasional Lifting of items up to 30 lbs.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field is a plus.
- Proven experience in inventory control, warehousing, or logistics.
- Proficiency in using inventory management software (e.g., WMS, ERP systems).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good organizational and time management abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Familiarity with warehouse operations and safety procedures.
- Must be able to perform moderate physical tasks, including occasional Lifting.
- Commitment to following safety guidelines and wearing required PPE.
