We have an immediate opening for a skilled Forklift Operator in our expansive logistics facility located in Houston, Texas. This position is critical for ensuring the efficient movement of goods throughout our warehouse. As a Forklift Operator, you will be responsible for safely operating forklifts to load, unload, transport, and stack materials. Your role will directly impact inventory accuracy and the timeliness of our shipping and receiving operations. The ideal candidate possesses a strong commitment to safety, proven forklift operation experience, and the ability to work effectively in a demanding, fast-paced environment. You must be adept at performing pre-operation checks on equipment and strictly adhere to all safety protocols, including the mandatory use of PPE. Responsibilities:
- Safely operate forklifts (sit-down, stand-up, reach truck) to move, stack, and retrieve materials.
- Load and unload trucks and trailers, ensuring proper weight distribution and securing of goods.
- Conduct daily pre-shift equipment inspections and report any maintenance or safety issues promptly.
- Pick and stage orders accurately for shipment, meeting production targets.
- Assist with inventory cycle counts and ensure inventory is stored correctly.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, adhering to 5S standards.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures, including the mandatory use of PPE.
- Collaborate effectively with warehouse team members and supervisors to ensure smooth workflow.
- Contribute to the overall efficiency and success of our logistics operations.
- Perform other warehouse duties as required, demonstrating flexibility and teamwork.
- Regularly perform tasks involving significant Lifting of materials, up to 70 lbs.
Qualifications:
- Certified forklift operator with at least 2 years of experience in a warehouse or distribution setting.
- Demonstrated ability to operate various types of forklifts safely and efficiently.
- Thorough knowledge of warehouse safety procedures and best practices.
- Ability to perform heavy Lifting and physical tasks as required by the role.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and spatial judgment.
- Ability to read and understand shipping documents, product labels, and safety instructions.
- Must be reliable, punctual, and possess a strong sense of responsibility.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Unwavering commitment to safety and adherence to PPE requirements.
- Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) is a plus.
