Description:

ATCO Frontec is seeking a Skilled Labourer to join our Resolute Bay Operations team in Resolute Bay, NU. The Skilled Labourer is an essential member of our operations team assisting other experienced construction or trades staff with activities at the various work sites.

This position is based on a 4 week on, 4 week off work rotation with travel and accommodations included.

Where We Work and Live:

ATCO Frontec has been operating in Resolute Bay since 1970 and have a long history of providing services in the North. The ATCO Frontec team in Resolute Bay provides logistics services for various Northern Government and private sector initiatives, including support and maintenance for the Polar Continental Shelf Program, the Resolute Bay Weather Observation, and the operation, maintenance and distribution of fuel for the hamlet and the Resolute Bay airport. The project team also provides logistics and operational support to initiatives in surrounding communities including Eureka and Grise Fiord. With a wide range of resources and experience, the Resolute Bay team can handle any operation in one of the most hostile climates in Canada.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance support to the Site Services team 

  • Remove rubble and other debris at construction sites using rakes, shovels, wheelbarrows and other equipment

  • Oil and grease hoists and similar equipment

  • Manual excavation and trenching using hand and air operated tools

  • Load and unload cargo and construction materials, and move materials to work areas using skid steers, loaders and pickup trucks

  • Erect and dismantle, scaffolding, ramps, catwalks, shoring and barricades required at construction sites

  • Safe operation of hand and power tools

  • Assist heavy equipment operators to secure special attachments to equipment, signal operators to guide them in moving equipment and provide assistance in other activities

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of two years' experience in a similar role operating machinery would be considered an asset

  • Must have a Valid Driver's license. Class 3 is preferred. 

  • Strong commitment to follow workplace safety requirements and procedures

  • Able to perform a physically strenuous and demanding job i.e. lifting, pulling and

  • Must be prepared to work in extreme weather conditions

  • Experience working in a remote environment is considered an asset

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Able to read drawings and blueprints

  • Ability to build and work in a team environment is crucial along with a strong commitment to personal and team safety
