Description

Contribute to the company's sales targets through effective contributions to the quoting process.  Develop concepts for automation solutions that will meet customers' needs as specified in clients' Request for Quote (RFQ). Create CAD drawings, cost details and supporting information to win projects. As required, support Regional Managers in clarifying client process details and in presenting quotes to clients. Be available as a resource to other departments with respect to specific quotes and jobs.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Create automation concepts to meet customer requirements in accordance with company standards and client requirements
  • Create supporting AutoCAD drawings and operational descriptions in support of the automation concepts developed
  • Develop cost estimates for the automation concepts developed
  • Interface with customer to collect technical details and obtain technical clarifications 
  • Communicate concept details to Sales Reps, Management, Customer, and Project personnel
  • Produce turnkey detailed proposals for Projects.
  • Demonstrate innovation, efficiency, autonomy and accuracy in managing that part of the quoting process for which he/she is responsible
  • Research new products and interface with suppliers to obtain technical and cost information in support of concept
  • Store quote-related data (specifications, quotes, estimates, drawings etc.) according to Samuel standards
  • Required to work in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with company Health and Safety and Other Policies

Position Requirements: 

  • Ability to develop innovative technical concepts
  • Excellent Presentation skills
  • Sound technical knowledge over a broad range of technology and applications
  • Some knowledge of control systems and software
  • Proficiency using 2D and 3D AutoCAD and SolidWorks to create conceptual layout drawings and, as required, 3D machine or tooling imagery
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in the English language
  • Ability to juggle multiple tasks and deadlines

Autonomy and Authority

  • Work without detailed supervision, but with clear guidelines, defined standards and specifications. Difficult, complex or unusual matters are referred to more senior authority.
  • Generally, responsible for the creation and detailing of turnkey projects. Work is generally reviewed for soundness and completeness.

Education, Experience, and Qualifications:

  • College or University degree in engineering or related discipline
  • A minimum of 5 years automation industry experience
  • Experience in machine design is a definite asset
  • Ability to run simulation software is an asset
  • Valid Passport and driver's licence may be required, as well as the ability to travel to customer sites both locally and internationally

Special Requirements:

  • Frequent presence on the shop floor and in engineering areas.
  • Occasional travel to customer sites, vendors, or other company locations.
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic, evolving environment with competing priorities.

The expected compensation range for this position is $42.73-$58.75. This range includes base pay and target variable pay. Actual compensation will depend on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and experience. We also consider internal equity to ensure fair and consistent pay practices. This range reflects the expected full compensation range for the role; most offers will fall within the range and not at the maximum in order to allow for future growth
