Supervisor, Roads

The Opportunity

Reporting directly to the Manager, Roads and Stormwater Operations, this role is responsible for the scheduling, assigning, coordinating and supervision of staff to complete road and drainage maintenance activities while ensuring compliance with all applicable legislation, Town by-laws and policies. You will adapt to continually changing priorities, including emergency and winter operations. You will be responsible for investigating, scheduling and responding directly to residential and business customers to resolve issues and concerns.

As the Supervisor, Roads, you will perform the following duties, including but not limited to:

• Determine winter maintenance requirements, including plowing and anti-icing, using technology, road patrols and weather conditions
• Evaluate customer service requests in CityWide, assign work activities, follow up and close out requests
• Schedule, assign and supervise staff performing road and drainage maintenance activities
• Provide technical advice for the safe and efficient operation of equipment and maintenance activities
• Support operational planning related to staffing, equipment, maintenance activities and contracts 

The Ideal Candidate

We are seeking a collaborative and results-driven professional with a post-secondary diploma in Civil Engineering or a closely related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. This candidate will have a minimum 5-7 years related experience in as a Roads Supervisor or Foreman related to Road Maintenance and/or Road Construction in a unionized work environment. Our ideal candidate has demonstrated experience in road and drainage maintenance operations, including winter maintenance, customer service response, and staff supervision.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience supervising staff and managing performance in a unionized environment. We are seeking an individual with superior organizational skills, a demonstrated ability to prioritize work based on operational needs, and excellent verbal and written communication skills.

The successful candidate for Supervisor, Roads will be required to work a flexible schedule, including in the office, remotely and after hours (as required).

This position offers a salary range of $100,469.99 to $125,587.48 plus a competitive benefit package.
