About the Role
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for repairing and
maintaining all systems, vessels, equipment, and buildings at the Nootka Sound
and Newton Cove Resorts. The role performs hands-on maintenance within training
scope, coordinates contractors when required, and supports smooth day-to-day
resort operations while ensuring safety, reliability, and guest satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
·
Inspect, repair, and maintain all resort systems
(power, water, wastewater, fuel, refrigeration, docks, vessels, and equipment).
·
Maintain diesel generators, battery banks, and
solar inverter systems.
·
Manage propane, diesel, and gasoline levels;
arrange deliveries as needed.
·
Pump fuel for guides and guests while following
safety procedures.
·
Stage, load, and unload supplies from the U-Chuck
(food, trash, fuel, materials).
·
Maintain tool, supply, and replacement-part
inventories for efficient operations.
·
Assist in updating resort operations manuals and
maintenance documentation.
·
Support guest services by loading luggage,
assisting with docking, checking boat ties, and closing fire pit areas at
night.
·
Ensure safety by reporting hazards and wearing
required PPE.
·
Greet guests upon arrival and departure to
enhance the guest experience.
Qualifications
·
Legally
entitled to work in Canada
·
High
school diploma or equivalent
·
Minimum
of 2 years professional maintenance experience, including plumbing, carpentry,
electrical systems, small water systems, wastewater & effluent systems,
diesel generators
·
Computer
literacy (Word, Outlook, Excel)
·
WHMIS
certification
·
PCOC – Pleasure
Craft Operators Certificate
·
Attention to
cleanliness and safety.
·
Strong
prioritization, time-management, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
·
Ability
to work independently and maintain strong performance
·
Guest-oriented,
friendly, and safety-focused
Preferred
·
Propane
Cylinder Handling and Exchange Certification
·
OFA1
(Occupational First Aid Level 1)
