Job Summary
As a part of Calgary Economic Development's Brand, Marketing & Activations team , the Coordinator, Events & Activations works with internal clients, external vendors and the marketing and communications team to support the planning and execution of events and sponsorships promoting Calgary as the location of choice for business, investment and talent, and CED as a leading economic development agency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the planning and execution of CED's annual signature events including Report to the Community and Economic Outlook.
- Support other events and activations such as, but not limited to, conferences, sponsorships, announcements and internal events in close collaboration with teams across the organization.
- Support project plans with internal clients to achieve desired outcomes.
- Work with external vendors to secure venues, book AV and catering, and other logistics as required.
- Utilize event software to execute virtual events and manage registration.
- Support the responsible management of event budgets.
- Write and develop content including event descriptions, invites, signage and website copy.
- Work with the marketing and communications team to find creative ways to bring Calgary's brand – Blue Sky City – to life at events, including but not limited to selection of speakers, on site activations, promotional collateral, décor and more.
- Support event set-up and execution on site pre-event and day-of event.
- Attend events, providing support with materials placement, event logistics and preparing materials for event.
- Help evaluate the success of events by tracking metrics and feedback.
- Monitor the events inbox to respond to event inquiries.
- Maintain, organize and inventory event collateral including banners, signage, décor, and more.
- Working within an annual budget, select, order and manage the inventory for corporate and brand swag for events and the broader CED organization throughout the year.
- Other tasks as required throughout the year.

Education
Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or other similar field.
Experience
Minimum of 2 to 3 years of experience working in events.
Key Competencies
- Detail-oriented/strong attention to detail
- Effective time management
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel and PPT.
- Design skills in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, and InDesign) are an asset
- Innovative, creative, and hard-working
- Proven project management skills
- Strong writing and editing skills: Ability to write in clear and concise messages for various internal and external audiences
