Here's the job opportunity…

The AVP, Distribution Governance and Oversight is a new position that will provide strategic leadership in enhancing the business risk and governance framework across all distribution channels within ivari's life insurance business. This role ensures that operational, regulatory, and conduct risks are effectively identified, managed, and mitigated in alignment with corporate risk appetite, regulatory expectations, and industry standards. The AVP acts as a key partner to senior business leaders and collaborates closely with 2nd line risk and compliance functions, legal counsel, regulators, and distribution partners to proactively manage business risks, foster a culture of ethical conduct, and safeguard the integrity of advisor and broker relationships. Leading a team of risk and governance professionals, this role supports strategic growth and operational excellence while ensuring adherence to internal policies and regulatory requirements:

  • Define and implement the business unit's risk, control and governance strategy ensuring risk ownership and accountability is embedded in all operational areas and aligned with the enterprise.
  • Oversee the design and execution of internal control programs where key controls are identified, designed and tested.
  • Ensure governance structures are robust and documented
  • Lead distribution risk and governance committees
  • Develop Key Risk Indicators and review annually
  • Monitor Key Risk Indicators and identify emerging risks and provide executives with reporting on risk posture and control effectiveness.
  • Escalate material risk issues, based on data, to senior leadership and Board committees.
  • Act as the primary liaison between the business unit and 2nd Line Risk/Compliance.
  • Influence and educate senior leaders on risk culture and accountability.
  • Represent the business unit in regulatory reviews and audits.
  • Collaborate with all departments to align distribution compliance efforts and foster a strong risk-aware culture 
  • Promote a culture of ethical conduct and regulatory awareness across all channels and departments
  • Lead with purpose, fostering a collaborative and engaged team that is motivated to deliver on its purpose.

What we are looking for…

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in the life insurance or financial services industry, with at least 5 years in a senior compliance or distribution oversight role. 
  • High level of expertise in risk management and governance within the financial services sector. 
  • Deep technical knowledge of regulatory requirements, risk assessment methodologies, and governance frameworks
  • Bachelor's degree in business, Law, Finance, or a related field
  • Advanced degrees (MBA, JD) or professional designations (CLU, FLMI, CCEP, CSC) preferred. 
  • An ability to cultivate and build collaborative working relationships with a broad range of stakeholders
  • Strong verbal and written communication
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills for managing complex issues
  • Excellent leadership skills

What we pay…

Salary Range: $140,000 - $180,000
