How you will contribute as part of the TRCA team:

The Senior Park Attendant is responsible for with the coordination and delivery of day-to-day operational and customer experience activities of TRCA lands, trails, grounds, and gardens, sites, and facilities (dependent on location).

Major Responsibilities:

  • Assists with providing guidance and training to junior staff on the day-to-day duties to ensure work is completed in a safe and efficient manner
  • Assists junior staff to addressing escalated customer experience concerns
  • Performs semi-skilled tasks required for the maintenance and operation of parks, buildings and properties
  • Performs landscaping and grounds maintenance, utilizing various grounds and landscaping tools and equipment to conduct the work; completing safety inspections prior to usage
  • Performs general cleaning functions, including garbage collection, cleaning of washrooms, building spaces etc.
  • Identifies, manages, and reports hazardous site conditions; ensures that staff and visitors do not encounter unsafe areas, materials or equipment
  • Participates in daily safety meetings including tailgate meetings, hazard identification and emergency planning
  • Maintains sound and current knowledge of site and facility programs and programs at other facilities
  • Process admissions, merchandise sales, snack bar (dependent on location) payments and transactions using point of sale systems
  • Cash handling including counting floats, summation of daily sales/revenue
  • Provides general clerical support and duties as required, including booking of events

What will you need to succeed:

Education (degree/diploma/certifications)   

  • High school diploma
  • Valid Ontario Class G driver's license

Experience

  • 1+ years of experience in general maintenance and operating power tools and motorized grounds equipment (tractors, ride on mowers)

Knowledge/Skill/Ability - Competencies

  • Strong health and safety aptitude
  • Ability to communicate effectively with tact and courtesy
  • Ability to manage conflicts and utilize de-escalation skills to resolve conflict situations
  • Basic computer proficiency in MS Office suite including online software such as MS teams, WebEx, and SharePoint
  • Required to lift or carry objects that could weigh up to 20 kg
  • Must be flexible to work all required shifts, including weekends and holidays
