The Opportunity

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Managing Director – Operational Technology (OT) Solution to lead and grow our OT Solution group. This senior-level role carries full P&L accountability for OT projects and is responsible for driving strategic growth, overseeing complex program delivery, and leading a high-performing team of solution architects, project managers, and project directors. 

The ideal candidate is both a commercial and technical leader, with deep domain expertise in OT systems and a proven track record of building consulting practices, delivering large-scale systems integration programs, and engaging with clients across Electric and Gas Utilities, Oil & Gas, and Heavy Industry sectors.    #LI-NK1  

This role reports to the Portfolio Leader of Infrastructure Technology Solutions and is a key member of the portfolio's leadership team. The Managing Director will work closely with Market Leaders, Key Account Managers, internal delivery teams, and external partners to ensure the successful execution and growth of OT initiatives.  

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Growth & Market Expansion

  • Responsible for achieving the yearly sales target for the Operational Technology Solution, with key duties that include:
    • Drive the expansion of OT solutions and services across North America and emerging markets
    • Collaborate with Industry Market Leaders, Client Account Managers and Sales Directors to identify opportunities, shape offerings, and support strategic pursuits
    • Lead and/or support the development of complex proposals and go-to-market strategies

Governance & Delivery Oversight

  • Hold accountability for ensuring the annual profitability of the Operational Technology Solution, with principal responsibilities including: 
    • Govern and oversee the execution of multiple concurrent OT projects, ensuring alignment with client expectations, quality standards, and financial targets
    • Provide executive oversight across the full project lifecycle—from pre-sales and solution engineering to delivery and operational readiness
    • Provide hands-on coaching and problem-solving support to delivery teams, especially on large and complex projects, serving as a trusted escalation point and technical advisor
    • Oversee and manage project risks and issues across the OT portfolio solutions footprint

Consulting Delivery & Client Engagement

  • Responsible for both overseeing delivery and managing engagement activities, such as: 
    • Lead advisory and implementation of large-scale, complex OT, and Grid Modernization programs
    • Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, engaging with executive stakeholders to drive transformational outcomes
    • Drive client engagements focused on business capability enablement, data governance, IT-OT convergence, and operational readiness
    • Architect and deploy industry-leading frameworks and integrated solutions
    • Combine management consulting acumen with technical capabilites to shape and deliver impactful outcomes

Team Leadership & Capability Building 

  • Supervises direct and matrix reports, with key responsibilities including: 
    • Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team of solution architects, project managers, and project directors. 
    • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement. 
    • Expand and manage onshore and offshore delivery teams for OT/IT systems integration. 
    • Participate in recruiting, performance management, and career development of team members 

Integrated Solution Enablement 

  • Applies a Solution Architecture approach to create comprehensive solutions and capabilities. The primary responsibilities are outlined as follows: 
    • Work with interdisciplinary teams across complementary solutions—including Cybersecurity, Asset Management, AMI, and Grid Modernization—to develop and promote integrated offerings 
    • Develop targeted solution strategies and support content development for client engagements 
    • Influence and support strategic relationships with technology partners and vendors; collaborate on joint solution development and go-to-market initiatives. 

Thought Leadership & Practice Development 

  • Responsible for fostering collaboration, developing best practices, and offering thought leadership, including: 
    • Define strategic direction and contribute to long-term planning for the infrastructure advisory solutions portfolio 
    • Contribute to the development of OT methodologies, delivery frameworks, and best practices. 
    • Represent the organization at industry events, conferences, and through thought leadership publications. 
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or relevant work experience
  • Has successfully managed multiple engagements simultaneously
  • Contributor or leader to acquire new engagements
  • 12-15+ years in a business/consulting environment
  • All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Software, Electrical, Mechanical, or related technical field.  
  • 15+ years of experience in Operational Technology, and Grid Modernization, including
  • 10+ years of experience in management consulting  
  • Proven experience building and scaling consulting practices, including Profit & Loss ownership. 
  • Demonstrated depth of technical domain expertise and extensive delivery experience across diverse OT/IT programs, enabling effective leadership and mentorship of delivery teams 
  • Deep and broad expertise in solution architecture, OT and Grid Modernization solutions such as SCADA, EMS, ADMS, DERMS, Grid Automation, Gas Control & Pipeline Management, and OT-IT integration.  
  • Experience working with regulated utilities, including Public Utilities and Investor-Owned Utilities (IOUs).  
  • Extensive Knowledge of Electric and Gas utilities operations functions and associated processes 
  • Demonstrated success in leading large, complex programs and orchestrating distributed delivery teams.  
  • Strong background in operational readiness and technical change management. 
Certifications
Certifications related to area of expertise, where applicable preferred. Work Environment/Physical Demands
  • Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days of employment based upon manager discretion, job performance and work assignments.
  • Travel required based on client and business needs.
