Egg Farmers of Canada (EFC) is seeking an Agricultural Data Coordinator to join the Agricultural Policy and Costing (APC) team in a fast-paced, challenging, and exciting work environment. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Agricultural Policy and Costing, the Agricultural Data Coordinator will collect, organize and maintain comprehensive data and information, contributing to timely analysis and reports pertaining to the Canadian egg industry.  

Duties and Responsibilities:

Data Management

  • Research tools, models, or techniques that can be incorporated into the APC unit processes in order to improve the quality of data
  • Compile data and prepare reports that accurately assess and support internal and external communications with various stakeholders about the egg industry
  • Verify and update data published on the Market Information (MI) section of EFC's website and provide support in future developments of the MI section (testing, documenting)
  • Work collaboratively with egg boards to collect and analyze various data sets such as provincial production, producer prices, provincial levies, feed pricing, etc.
  • Verify external data used to support EFC's pricing program and support to ensure the changes and updates to the pricing tools are effectively tested and implemented
  • Monitor and assist in determining unit requirements to be used in the planning, development, and implementation of tools developed collaboratively with other EFC units
  • Liaise with industry stakeholders such as egg boards and government agencies on relevant data and answer inquiries related to the APC unit responsibilities

Cost of Production (COP) Committee

  • Assist in the four-phase study of the Cost of Production (COP), including: project planning and methodological outline, fieldwork, assessment of the initial study results, and the implementation and update of the final study results
  • Assist in resolving issues that arise during the COP study or updates by conducting research and proposing solutions on various topics such as: cost components, costing, and valuation methods; and indexing methodologies
  • Analyze and assess the accuracy and suitability of data pertaining to the COP Study

Ad Hoc Reporting/Support

  • Collect data to calculate and maintain COP components in order to update and distribute provincial COPs
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues in other EFC teams to achieve common goals and EFC objectives, such as providing information and technical expertise
  • Assess and review work conducted by third party consultants for various APC projects
  • Provide support to the APC team to prepare comprehensive analyses and reports to support unit objectives
  • Prepare and verify reports to be included in EFC's Board materials

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Advanced knowledge and experience with data analysis tools and techniques
  • Experience working with panel data
  • Knowledge of techniques for effective data management
  • Knowledge of supply management
  • Advanced analytical and computer skills, including in-depth knowledge of MS Excel (pivot tables, complex formulas), data analysis tools and techniques for the purpose of performing data management
  • Excellent attention to detail and critical thinking skills
  • Highly motivated and engaged to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Strong ability to multi-task and coordinate various tasks
  • Ability to communicate effectively with various groups of stakeholders

Education and Experience:

  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant field (Statistics, Data Science or Business)
  • 1-3 years of relevant work experience

Working Conditions:

  • A standard workweek schedule working in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities
  • Frequent interaction with external stakeholders and consultants
  • Position requires prolonged periods of sitting and use of a computer
