Grow with us as an Operator for our Empress 6 facility located north of Medicine Hat. These plants are some of the largest gas processing facilities in North America. At Plains we believe that everything depends on strong leadership and we are looking for a highly motivated individual to fill this position. The successful candidate for this position will be joining an operating crew at a 24 hour per day plant operation and providing leadership for the safe, reliable, efficient, and environmentally compliant operation of the facility.
Note: Permanent residency within 120 km of the Empress facilities is a condition of employment. The successful candidate must be able to work a regular 12-hour shift rotation.
Responsibilities:
- Maintaining the operation of the facility within regulatory parameters;
- Operating, maintaining, and / or repairing equipment and systems including equipment startup, shutdown and isolation
- Working effectively in a team environment to monitor, log, resolve, and escalate operational and safety issues;
- Ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards, policies, procedures, and site-specific training;
- Maintaining appropriate records and documents and submitting reports as required; and
- Maintaining the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and following prescribed safety regulations.
- Demonstrating competency in the execution and evaluation of all operational tasks performed on shift;
- Performing assistant engineer responsibilities according to the Alberta Safety Codes Act & Power Engineering Regulations ;
- Ensuring safety, environmental and regulatory requirements are met;
- Supporting facility turnarounds;
- Ensuring activities are performed without safety or environmental incidents;
- Supporting and collaborating with the Empress management team; and
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3rd Class Power Engineering Certification required; a 2nd Class is Preferred
- Must be able to work a regular on-call 12-hour shift rotation, including weekends and statutory holidays;
- Able to work in inclement weather conditions;
- Strong mechanical aptitude;
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.;
- Power Engineering Technology Diploma, previous experience in gas/NGL processing, and/or field operations considered strong assets;
- Project coordination, control room experience, and OHS considered an asset;
- Valid H2S, WHMIS, TDG, and First Aid certificates considered an asset;
- Self-motivated and energetic with effective written and verbal communication skills;
- Strong computer and problem solving skills;
- Ability to identify opportunities for optimization and improvement;
- Permanent residency within 120 km of the Empress Facility;
- Strong commitment to safety;
- Demonstrated team player;
- Self-motivated and energetic with effective written and verbal communication skills;
- Self-directed and capable of working with minimum supervision;
- Valid driver's license with a clean abstract;
- Cleared criminal history (background) and satisfactory reference checks;
- Compliance with the Company's drug and alcohol policy including pre-employment D&A testing; and
- Compliance with the Company's requirement to be clean shaven to ensure proper fit of emergency PPE.
