OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE
SHIFT is growing its Systems Engineering team We are looking for Engineers and Physicists to join our Systems Engineering team full-time in Saint John. In this role, you will work directly with new customers to plan, implement and support central plant monitoring and predictive control solutions: identify customer needs and market opportunities and collaborate with product managers to develop new product features and capabilities. You will be part of a high-performing, multidisciplinary team of experts deploying leading-edge control software and analytics tools and supporting customers to maximize the benefits of those systems.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING IN THE ROLE
This is a unique role that offers you the chance to experience and impact every aspect of the business from the lab to the customer's plant and back. In this role, you will:
- Become a subject matter expert in central plant equipment, controls and operations.
- Prepare detailed technical reports, proposals, and documentation for clients and internal stakeholders.
- Collaborate with customers, product teams and sales to plan, implement and operationalize leading edge predictive control solutions for central plants.
- Become a trusted advisor and go-to-expert for your customers in all aspects of the solution. Develop a proactive support relationship with your customers:
- Analyze the operation and performance of production MPC, AI and Analytics systems: ensure deployed systems meet or exceed customer expectations.
- Provide expert-level technical and troubleshooting support to your customers.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot heating and cooling plants and controls: identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
- Identify product blind spots or underperformance: recommend / implement improvements.
- Work with our customers and partners to discover new requirements and opportunities.
- Expand the company's knowledge base while collaborating with team members specializing in simulation, modeling and development.
- Contribute to product development projects
- Support the evolution of product vision and roadmap.
WHAT SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS YOU'LL NEED TO DO THE JOB
- B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Physics, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering,
- Strong understanding of thermodynamics and fluids
- Strong foundation in automatic control systems
- Proficiency in Python or comparable languages would be an asset
