Position Overview:
The Manufacturing Coordinator - Traffic Sign Production is responsible for coordinating daily production activities while exercising sound judgment, effective time management, and calm, professional approach. The role requires the ability to make timely decisions, provide clear guidance in a respectful and tactful manner to ensure safety, quality, delivery, and performance standards are consistently met.
What you will be responsible for:
Production Planning and Scheduling
- Develop and maintain daily and weekly production schedules for traffic sign manufacturing, ensuring alignment with customer delivery requirements, material availability, and shop capacity.
- Demonstrate strong time management by balancing competing priorities, shifting workloads, and responding effectively to production changes.
- Make day-to-day production decisions to maintain flow, meet deadlines, and address constraints.
- Coordinate workflow across graphics, printing, fabrication, and finishing operations to optimize throughput and minimize bottlenecks.
- Communicate production plans, priorities, and schedule changes clearly and calmly to production staff, supervisors, and management.
Sign Fabrication and Assembly
- Coordinate fabrication activities including cutting, forming, laminating, mounting, and finishing of traffic signs.
- Provide clear, tactful guidance to fabrication staff to ensure expectations are understood without escalation or disruption.
- Make real-time decisions to resolve fabrication issues while maintaining quality and safety standards.
- Ensure fabrication processes meet engineering drawings, sign standards, and quality expectations.
- Verify completed signs meet dimensional, visual, and durability standards prior to release.
People Leadership
- Provide feedback to production employees across graphics, printing, and fabrication areas.
- Assess performance issues promptly escalating to the Manufacturing Operations Manager when progressive discipline is required.
- Responsible for ensuring that attendance tracking is updated based on proper staffing requirements.
Quality Control and Compliance
- Enforce quality control procedures throughout graphics, printing, and fabrication processes.
- Ensure all signs comply with applicable municipal, provincial, and national traffic sign standards.
- Exercise decision-making authority to stop or escalate production when quality or compliance risks are identified.
- Promote a quality-first mindset and accountability among production staff.
Materials and Workflow Coordination
- Coordinate with inventory and purchasing to ensure availability of substrates, reflective sheeting, inks, laminates, and hardware.
- Make timely decisions to address material shortages or substitutions to prevent production delays.
- Monitor material usage and report discrepancies to maintain production continuity.
Systems, Reporting and Microsoft Office Skills
- Use Microsoft Excel/Google Sheets/Nesting Files to support production scheduling, capacity planning, material tracking, and performance reporting.
- Create, update, and analyze spreadsheets using formulas, pivot tables, filters, and basic data visualization.
- Maintain accurate production records, schedules, and work order documentation.
- Prepare weekly KPI reports (On-Time-Delivery, First Pass )
Continuous Improvement and Professional Conduct
- Maintain Finished Goods Kanban Replenishment strategies.
- Identify opportunities to improve production efficiency, nesting optimization, waste reduction, and cycle times.
- Support implementation of standardized work instructions and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Lead by example through calm decision-making, professional conduct, and respectful communication.
- Promote a safe, organized, and engaged manufacturing environment.

What we need from you:
- Diploma or certificate in Manufacturing, Operations, Drafting, Supply Chain, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
- 3–5 years of experience in a manufacturing, fabrication, or production environment.
- Experience coordinating production activities, schedules, or workflows.
- Prior exposure to regulated products, drawings, or specifications is an asset.
- Experience supporting production teams.
- Demonstrate strong decision-making skills in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, balancing safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
- Manage time and priorities effectively while handling multiple production demands.
- Provide guidance and feedback in a calm, tactful, and respectful manner.
- Exercise sound judgment and escalate issues appropriately when required.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets for tracking and reporting.
