The Purchasing Agent plays a key role in managing the full procurement cycle for Broadstreet Properties Ltd., supporting property operations, maintenance, and development activities across the organization. This position is responsible for sourcing, ordering, tracking, and coordinating the delivery of goods and services while ensuring compliance with procurement policies, vendor standards, and internal controls.
Working closely with Operations, Facilities, and Supply Chain teams, the Purchasing Agent contributes to efficient workflows, cost control, and service quality through effective vendor management, inventory coordination, and process improvement.

Your contribution to the team includes

  • Train and onboard new purchasing staff, ensuring consistent application of Broadstreet policies and processes
  • Provide day-to-day guidance to Purchasers, Shipper/Receivers (MB/SK), or Purchasing Admin.
  • Review and validate purchase orders, inventory transactions, and receiving documentation for accuracy and compliance
  • Serve as an escalation point for purchasing, inventory, and vendor-related issues
  • Assist in workload planning and task prioritization during peak periods or absences
  • Monitor purchasing and warehouse inventory KPIs and report trends or issues to management
  • Support audit preparation ensuring records are complete, up to date and accurate
  • Process full-cycle purchasing for supplies, equipment, and services
  • Create, track, and manage purchase requisitions and obtain approvals
  • Maintain accurate purchasing and inventory records in ERP
  • Communicate with vendors regarding pricing, availability, and delivery schedules
  • Escalate and address issues of defective or unacceptable orders
  • Conduct inventory counts, reconcile discrepancies, and maintain system accuracy
  • Prepare and schedule shipments; track and verify receipts
  • Collaborate with Shipper/Receivers or Purchasing Admin to maintain workflow
  • Support development and continuous improvement of SOPs for purchasing and inventory processes
  • Coach and mentor staff to improve performance
  • Perform other duties as required

What you need to be successful

  • Post-secondary education in Supply Chain, Business Administration, or related field
  • Minimum 3 - 5 years of purchasing experience, preferably in a leadership or senior role
  • Strong knowledge of ERP systems and purchasing best practices
  • Ability to analyze KPIs and implement process improvements
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to lead team across various locations
  • Ability to travel as required by the business
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and vendor relationship management skills
  • Knowledge of shipping documentation, including waybills and bills of lading
  • Understanding of safe receiving, handling, and storage practices
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
