Job Description: As a member of Mental Health and Addiction Services, the Community Mental Health Nurse is an integral part of the multidisciplinary team providing intensive case management to individuals with chronic and persistent mental illness. These services are provided within an individual and group context. Responsibilities include intensive case management, medication management, crisis intervention, counseling, goal planning, consultation to community agencies, group/community education, student mentoring, documentation, client/family and public education and mental health promotion.

Experience

  • 3 years recent experience in community mental health or relevant setting required.

Education

  • Bachelor of Psychiatric Nursing (BPN)

Licenses

  • Basic Life Support Certificate (BLS)

Other Education and Training

  • Bachelor of Nursing is acceptable
  • Psychiatric Nursing diploma is acceptable
  • Workplace Assessment & Violence Education (WAVE)
  • Nursing diploma is acceptable

Competencies

  • Advanced - Communication skills
  • Advanced - Organizational skills

Knowledge and Abilities
