ABOUT THIS POSITION
As the Assistant Controller at Digital Extremes, you will be a key driver of financial integrity and strategic oversight. You will bridge the gap between high-level financial strategy and day-to-day operations. This role requires a high degree of technical accounting knowledge and a strong personal drive.
Reporting Structure: Reports to the Controller; oversees the Accounting Manager and Payroll team.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Financial Analysis & Oversight: Lead comprehensive balance sheet and income statement analysis, ensuring the integrity of the general ledger through rigorous monitoring and review of journal entries and reconciliations.
- Consolidated Reporting: Support the Controller in preparing consolidated financial statements and managing the full accounting cycle.
- Technical Excellence: Lead the accounting analysis for new accounting standards (IFRS).
- Legal & Corporate Records: Oversee the maintenance of legal and corporate records, including the preparation and filing of resolutions, corporate registrations, and annual information filings.
- Payroll Leadership: Assume full purview over the payroll function, including direct management of the payroll team
- Internal Controls: Develop and maintain a robust internal control environment to ensure financial accuracy and regulatory compliance.
- Tax Support: Oversee monthly sales tax returns and assist with preparation and review of income tax returns and tax credit applications in Canada and the U.S.
- Strategic FP&A Support: Collaborate with the FP&A team on variance analysis, department-level budgeting, and forecasting.
- Audit Management: Serve as the primary liaison for external auditors, managing the overall audit timeline and final deliverable quality.
- Controller Support & Continuity: Serve as a key support to the Controller, sharing insights to support strategic decision-making and providing coverage to ensure departmental continuity.

REQUIREMENTS
- 7+ years of experience, preferably with "Big 4" and industry experience; mandatory CPA designation
- Advanced Excel skills (e.g. PivotTables, conditional formatting, complex nested formulas)
- Experience with Workday financial system is a significant asset.
