Summary
The Maintenance Technician – Mechanical Assets is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, and repair of mechanical equipment and infrastructure. This is a hands-on role requiring strong mechanical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Mechanical Maintenance & Repairs
Perform routine, preventative, and corrective maintenance on mechanical assets (e.g., motors, pumps, gearboxes, conveyors, HVAC components, irrigation systems, production machinery).
Diagnose mechanical failures and implement effective repairs to minimize downtime.
Install, align, adjust, and replace mechanical components as required.
Inspections & Preventative Maintenance
Conduct regular equipment inspections and document findings.
Execute preventative maintenance programs according to schedules and SOPs.
Identify wear, risk factors, or inefficiencies and recommend corrective actions.
Safety & Compliance
Follow all safety policies, lockout/tagout procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Report safety hazards, near misses, and incidents promptly.
Documentation & Communication
Complete maintenance logs, work orders, and parts usage records accurately.
Communicate equipment status, repair timelines, and recurring issues to supervisors and operations teams.
Support continuous improvement initiatives by providing feedback on asset performance.
Collaboration & Support
Work closely with Operations, Production, and Facilities teams to prioritize maintenance activities.
Support emergency repairs and off-hours maintenance as required.
Assist with contractor coordination and oversight when applicable.
Qualifications
Required
High school diploma or equivalent.
2+ years of hands-on experience maintaining mechanical equipment in an industrial, manufacturing, agricultural, or facilities environment.
Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills.
Ability to read mechanical drawings, manuals, and schematics.
Comfortable using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs and work in varied conditions (standing, kneeling, climbing, indoor/outdoor environments).
Preferred
Technical diploma or certification in Mechanical Maintenance, Millwright, Industrial Mechanics, or related field.
Experience with CMMS systems.
Welding, fabrication, or basic electrical knowledge.
Valid driver's license.
