Job Description

The Wellness Specialist will enhance the lives of more than 5,500 employees by providing a variety of health and wellness programs that reflect the changing needs of our diverse workforce. The Wellness Specialist will provide consultation, education and health awareness. The incumbent will promote initiatives through the implementation of a program supporting our multi-site acute health care environment. The primary objective of the wellness program is to support the optimization of health, wellbeing and engagement experience.
Reporting to the Manager, Workplace Wellness, the Wellness Specialist will provide and oversee a unique and comprehensive health and wellness program encompassing a wide range of services including, but not limited to, wellness newsletters, health screenings, wellness presentations, and lunch and learns.

Accountabilities:

  • Analyzes employee health challenges using available data such as health assessment results, engagement surveys, claims utilization data, employee feedback, to create wellness programs/ initiatives that align with Osler's vision, mission and values
  • Translates identified wellness needs into creative, high-energy, high visibility solutions that improve and enhance engagement, health and productivity while reducing Osler's health care and workers compensation costs
  • Develops, implements and maintains wellness programs and events
  • Stays current with best practices to drive continuous improvement of health and wellbeing
  • In consultation with internal/external stakeholders, plans and coordinates annual Osler health, safety and wellness strategies; draws upon opportunities to support internal physical activity challenges, external physical activity and community engagement activities captured in Osler's healthy workplace strategy
  • Leads the development of strategies, and implementation of programs identified by the wellness committee and develops timelines, milestones, communications, key success factors and metrics to identify expected outcomes, success and the ROI of wellness programs and initiatives
  • Works with health insurance providers to review benefit utilization through data analysis and makes cost effective recommendations to improve benefits and the wellness program
  • Works with employee assistance program consultants and vendors to analyze data and research trends on usage to provide innovative solutions to the wellness program
  • In consultation with communications, creates a strategy to execute cutting edge communications
  • Integrates health and wellness into all Osler events, projects, such as monthly meetings, annual staff appreciation events, etc.
  • In consultation, oversees the financial impact and budget of initiatives and programs
  • Leads the registration and participation of employee groups in employee wellness programs and initiatives
  • Develop and deliver employee health education training where applicable
  • Provides logistical support to operational locations to facilitate implementation of wellness programs and initiatives
  • Identifies, evaluates and provides feedback to Osler champions to assist in the education and implementation of wellness initiatives and interventions
  • Maintains accurate records and ensure confidentiality of data collected in accordance with Osler policy
Qualifications
  • University degree in health sciences, health promotion, psychology, physical education/kinesiology or a wellness-related field or an equivalent combination of education and related work experience
  • Post grad certificate/diploma in Workplace Wellness and/or Health Promotion recognized preferred
  • Minimum of five years full time experience working in like position
  • A minimum of three years of experience working and apply adult learning principles in a corporate or community wellness environment specializing in an employee engagement and psychological safety
  • Computer proficiency including Microsoft office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Publisher and PowerPoint)
  • Proven superior organizational skills
  • Ability to function independently in a challenging position
  • Demonstrates excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrates a commitment to customer service when dealing with internal/external stakeholders
  • Demonstrates values consistent with Osler and is committed to fostering a healthy and positive work environment
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills
  • Proven ability to facilitate meetings and seminars
  • Action oriented and with high degree of business acumen
  • Demonstrated planning and organization skills
  • Effective oral communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated training and presentation skills
  • Valid Ontario driver's license (Class G) with full driving privileges
  • Competency in HR and health care systems such as Meditech, MediHR, Kronos and Parklane or similar systems
  • Previous experience in a multi-union environment

Additional Information

Hours: Currently days, including weekends and statutory holidays (subject to change in accordance with operational requirements)

Onsite First: Roles that frequently support direct patient care and have dedicated hours when they are available to patients, team members and/or other partners.

Salary:
Minimum: $88,413.00
Maximum: $110,526.00
