What is the role?
LEA is seeking a GIS Technician to join our Environmental Team. Reporting to the GIS Specialist, the GIS Technician is responsible for the creation, collection, management, and analysis of GIS data for various infrastructure and development projects across Ontario. Successful applicants must be motivated, able to work independently, and have excellent organizational and communication skills. The applicant will be required to work with minimal supervision and may be required to travel to various project sites across the province.

In this role, your duties and responsibilities will include:
- Assist in the creation and management of data collection layers and maps for use in ESRI Field Maps.
- Manage and organize the collection, recording, and digital filing of field data consistent with LEA Quality Control requirements.
- Preparation of key maps and existing conditions maps for environmental assessment projects.
- Spatial analysis and production of thematic maps for engineering projects.
- Digitization and integration of various forms of geospatial data, including topographic survey data and CAD drawings.
- Assist with the collection and processing of drone aerial imagery.
- Conduct fieldwork to collect geospatial data for various infrastructure development projects across Ontario.
- Adhere to health and safety policies and report any unsafe conditions, incidents, or hazards to the supervisor.
- Assist with other environmental field surveys as required.
The qualifications you need:
- College Diploma or University Degree in a Geographic Information Systems (GIS) or related program.
- 1-3 years of experience working with GIS software, including ESRI products ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and ArcGIS Field Maps.
- Proficiency in producing cartographic maps.
- Proficiency with programming and/or AI is an asset.
- Proficiency with computer-assisted design (CAD) is an asset.
- Valid Drone Pilot Certificate – Basic and/or Advanced Operations is an asset.
- A background in ecology is an asset.

- Annual Salary Range: $55,000 – $65,000 CAD
- Annual Salary Range: We are open to discussing compensation and will consider your salary expectations for the role's responsibilities.

The work arrangement:
LEA operates in a hybrid environment to support flexibility, safety, and the well-being of all team members. This role requires travel to project sites within the GTA and other parts of Ontario. A valid Canadian driver's license is mandatory, as well as access to a vehicle.
