This is a summer contract that will give you valuable exposure and skill-building opportunities within several of our departments. Salt XC's Summer Squad will consist of a 4-month long contract, full-time hours, from May to August 2026, with the opportunity for a contract extension beyond this date.
Over the duration of the program, you can expect opportunities to network, meet Salters across other departments, participate in additional Learning & Development Opportunities, and receive mentorship from those currently in their desired field.

This is currently a Hybrid work opportunity with 2-3 days in office required at our Salt Toronto Head Office.

ROLE OVERVIEW

The AI Product Development Intern supports the product team at Salt with AI transformation by helping define, build, and operationalize AI-powered products and workflows across creative, strategy, production, and account teams.

This role sits at the intersection of product, engineering, and operations. You will help translate business needs into clear workflow requirements, collaborate with engineers on user experience and flow design, and support the rollout and iteration of agentic and AI-enabled systems.

This role is designed for an entry-level candidate who is a fast learner, hands-on, eager to learn, contribute to defined deliverables, and grow in a fast-moving environment where innovation is happening in real time.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Product Coordination

  • Work closely with engineering to support AI product development, user experience, and backlog management.
  • Help define workflow UX: inputs, outputs, handoffs, edge cases, and error handling.
  • Support feature testing and iteration cycles by collecting requirements, feedback and identifying friction points.

AI Workflow Development & Management Support

  • Support the development of AI workflows (n8n and others) from concept → prototype →rollout.
  • Translate team needs into structured workflow requirements, user flows, and implementation notes.
  • Coordinate testing cycles, revisions, and rollout plans.

Rapid Prototyping & Experimentation

  • Support lightweight prototyping using AI-assisted tools (Cursor, Vercel, Google AI studio etc ) to validate ideas quickly.
  • Build small workflow helpers, templates, or automation experiments to test feasibility.
  • Collaborate with engineers to improve prototypes into stable tools when needed.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

  • Quick prototypes that validate ideas and improve workflow quality.
  • Clear coordination between stakeholders engineering.
  • Strong workflow UX definitions (inputs/outputs, handoffs, edge cases).
  • Fast iteration through testing, feedback, and rollout support.
  • Clean specs documentation that stay up to date.

EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

  • Recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Product Design, or relatedfield.
  • 0-2 years of relevant experience building digital products, automations, or AI-enabled workflows (internships, academic projects, or independent work welcome)
  • Ability to vibe code via Cursor or similar IDE, create agentic flows via n8n and other latestdevelopment tools.
  • Comfortable working with engineers and cross-functional teams.
  • Strong understanding of digital products and workflows.
  • Able to support testing, feedback collection, and iteration cycles.
  • Basic understanding of github, GCP, API, SSO, LLM etc.
  • Comfortable using AI tools daily (Gemini, ChatGPT, Claude, etc.).

NICE-TO-HAVE

  • Product ops / PM / coordination experience.
  • Familiarity with UX flows and writing specs/SOPs.
  • Tools: Miro, Figma, Jira, Airtable, Looker, Google Analytics.
  • Exposure automation or agentic workflows.

The anticipated annual base salary range for this position is $40,000–$50,000. Individual compensation within this range is determined based on job-related factors such as experience, skills, level of responsibility, internal equity, and business needs. This range represents the expected base salary for this role and does not include other elements of SALT's total rewards program.
